Steven Armstrong Memorial Award

Born April 16, 1985
Died April 26, 2008

Steven played hockey from Novice to Juvenile with Red Circle. He was also a great volunteer. Steven helped with dances, skate-a-thon, fudge, goalie clinics, evaluations, and Awards weekend. Sadly he was killed in a car accident 10 days after his 23rd birthday.

Steven's parents, George & Aggie Armstrong, always sponsored Steven's teams. First with Standard Safety Equipment and then Trout Haven Park.

George & Aggie wanted to honour their son's life with a golf tournament in Sept 2008. Thus started the Annual Steven Armstrong Memorial Golf Tournament. They then donated the proceeds to Red Circle. The Board of Directors came up with the Steven Armstrong Memorial Award. It will go to a player who is:

  • 15 years of age or over
  • plays for Red Circle
  • volunteers for Red Circle

That player will receive an award well as FREE registration for the following year. Past winners include:

  • 2009-2010 Mike Morris
  • 2008-2009 Joe Douglas

The summer of 2009, the Armstrong's held a rubber ducky race in July as well as the golf tournament in September. Giving Red Circle a grand total of $1000. The money raised minus the cost of next years registration for the Steven Armstrong Award will be used to help kids who can't afford to pay full registration..
