Red Circle Hockey Club Convenor Information
Red Circle Hockey Club convenors are volunteers whose primary duty is to manage the
day-to-day administration, information, and activities of the players, teams, and coaches
within a specific division under the direction of Hockey Operations. Except for game matters,
which are within the purview of the Referee, the Convenor shall in general have control over
all games in their division.
Specific Duties:
- Attend all division games or ensure appropriate representation as approved by Hockey Operations.
- Maintain and report all player and team statistics via the approved software.
- Act as a liaison between the Red Circle Hockey Club and their respective divisions, including communication with coaches and parents.
- In consultation with Hockey Operations, ensure any player/coach suspensions are reported, served, and accurately recorded on the electronic gamesheet. Notify coaches of suspensions prior to the next game.
- Understand the rules of the Red Circle Hockey Club.
- Ensure that the spirit and intent of the Red Circle Hockey Club Constitution is followed.
- Coordinate with the Equipment Manager for the disbursement of jerseys to each coach.
- Ensure all games commence and end on time where possible.
- Report any serious breach of rules, regulations, bylaws, or policies to Hockey Operations.
- Report circumstances surrounding, and recommend the need for, any disciplinary action to Hockey Operations as soon as possible.
- Provide Hockey Operations with a written incident report when requested.
- Ensure referees and timekeepers are present prior to each game. Report no-shows or late arrivals to the Referee-in-Chief or Referee Scheduler.
- Ensure that games start on time. Games running late are subject to curfew.
- Ensure all players wear required equipment and league-issued sweaters and socks. Players not in proper gear may be removed from the ice until corrected.
- Ensure any equipment loaned to teams is returned to the Red Circle Hockey Club at the end of the season.
