Red Circle Selects Program (Red Circle Hockey Club)

PrintRed Circle Selects Program

Red Circle Hockey Club provides a safe and fun hockey experience for all London & Area youth.  Red Circle has been an integral part of London’s hockey community for over fifty years and to this day, continues to uphold its commitment to “Equal Opportunity, Regardless of Ability”.

What is the Red Circle Hockey Club Selects Program

The Red Circle Hockey Club Selects program is an opportunity for youth (U9 to U15) to experience a more competitive type of hockey with some travel/tournament aspects.  This program is a step-up from our house league program for those who have a desire to play a slightly higher level of hockey and the desire to play in a slightly more competitive environment.

The Select program allows those players to continue to develop their skills in our house league but also offers them an additional practice each week, specialized hockey development opportunities, exhibition games and 2-3 tournaments throughout the year with our partner Select teams in Barrie, Erin, and Toronto.

Our goal is to provide each division (U9-U15) at least 1 competitive level game per month (which may require travel) in addition to the house league schedule, in some cases more.  They will have 2 practices per week (1 house league which is half ice and 1 Select team practice which is full ice).  What does this mean – it means they will have 3 ice times per week.   The schedule throughout the year also accounts for 3 specialized hockey development clinics for the players and goalies with our external partner.

Program Offering:

Our intent where possible is to have the Select Team continue to play as a team in a division above their age group during the Red Circle Hockey Club regular season.   To facilitate this and ensure that teams in the divisions are balanced all Select players will be expected to attend house league evaluations in the division where we anticipate them playing (U9 in U11, U11 in U13, etc.) for an evaluation score.

Estimated Costs: We anticipate the season to cost approximately $700 after sponsorship deductions.  The estimated costs for the Selects program are in addition to your house league fees (a breakdown by division for Red Circle Hockey Club house leagues fees can be found at https://redcirclehockeyclub.com/Forms/3775/.

These fees would cover the cost of Practice Ice, Hockey Development during season, Equipment (Jersey name bars, socks, etc. – Jerseys can be purchased at the end of the season for an additional cost), Tournament Fees  (3 tournaments, 4 if possible), Officials for home exhibition games and ORHL Insurance (which is required to play in any ORHL event).

Cost Breakdown (Fees are approximate and based on a team of 16 players):

Ice Costs (Aug-Mar)

$ 300.00

Hockey Development Sessions (3) at the start of the season

(More session to be provided based on Sponsorship dollars)

$ 45.00

Equipment/Clothing

$ 300.00

Tournaments/Insurance

$ 275.00

Officials

$ 30.00

Total Program Cost per player based on 16 players per team

$ 950.00

Please note that this cost breakdown is an estimate only.  Should more/less sponsorship be received than the estimate the cost would fluctuate.  Should more tournaments, ice time, hockey development sessions occur the cost would fluctuate.

Sponsorship & Fundraising:

There will be 3-4 fundraising opportunities throughout the season (starting in May) to help reduce your fees.  These are selected and run by the Fundraising Coordinator on the Board of Red Circle Hockey Club and will be the same for our Select and REP players.

Each player has the opportunity to secure sponsorship.  The first $250 per player will be allocated to reduce their fees to the estimated level of $700.  Sponsorship above the $250 will be allocated by the Selects Program Director to provide additional hockey development sessions, use for additional tournaments, or team building events as examples, they will not be used to lower a single players fee.  A sponsor of $1500 or more will have their business name added to a piece of clothing such as the jersey or jacket.

All sponsors will be recognized on the Selects programs website and team banners.

Sponsors can contact [email protected] for our Sponsorship Information Package.

Coaching:

Coaches will be announced before May 1st.  Those interested in coaching are required to complete the Select Coaches application form by March 31st at https://redcirclehockeyclub.com/Forms/3303/.  Interviews will take place during the first 2 weeks of April.
